Join us for an afternoon remembering the history soaked into the soil of Shepherdstown, WV.
The event will begin with a context-setting description researched and written by Historican Jim Surkamp, followed by a sensitive reading by Ardyth Gilbertson, drawn from Dandridge's "Historic Shepherdstown" and her "American Prisoners of the Revolution." Terry Tucker, composer, musical artist and performer, will then debut her original arrangement put to the lyrics of a patriotic song composed at Stinson's Spring on June 10, 1775. According to Danske Dandridge, this individual would then soon depart on the march to Cambridge, Massachusetts to join George Washington. Danske Dandridge, the poet and historian of Shepherdstown, besides descending from Grandfather Daniel Bedinger, her two great uncles, Henry and Michael were veterans of the Revolution and both were its chroniclers. |
