Of Special Interest

On the Wall is a photographic essay of people of Shepherdstown and has been published as the commemorative book for the 250th celebration of the founding of the town. The book is the work of noted photographer Hali Taylor, long-time resident of Shepherdstown and librarian of the Shepherdstown Public Library.

On the Wall includes more than 80 photographs of citizens of Shepherdstown. According to Taylor, “My portraits span 25 years and are of the people who make up the strands of the web of the Shepherdstown community; each one constitutes a unique addition to the mix.” Hali has more than 700 photographs in her portfolio which she began in 1985. The photographs included in the book are a cross sampling of the people of Shepherdstown , “…old-timers, newcomers, the many “average” folk who sometimes are anything but…” says Taylor.

The photographs, all in black and white, demonstrate photographic artistry and Hali’s unique style and fascination with the human face. According to Hali, “each portrait contains a moment in a life – a complex, mini-universe of human experience, inextricably woven forever into the continually evolving community that is Shepherdstown, West Virginia.”

On the Wall is available for purchase exclusively through Four Seasons Books , 116 German Street, Shepherdstown, at the store and online at this site by placing the code 1234567890123 in the search function.
